Journal prompts for your next career move

You don’t need a complete plan to start thinking about what comes next. A few honest notes can help you see what matters.

Set aside ten quiet minutes. Write without editing yourself, and aim for specific moments rather than the answer you think you should give.

What do you want from your next role?

Think beyond a job title. Write about the pace, people, flexibility, and kind of problems you’d like in your working day. Separate what you need from what would simply be nice to have.

Try finishing this sentence: “A good working day would leave me feeling…”

What work gives you energy?

Look back at the past week. When did you feel curious, focused, or proud of what you made? Note what you were doing and who you were with. Then write down one task that consistently drained you.

Look for a pattern you’d like more of, and one you’d like less of.

What’s one step you can take this week?

Choose something small enough to put on your calendar: talk to someone in a role you’re curious about, update one part of your resume, or save a job description and note what appeals to you.

When you’re ready to apply, Argo can help with job applications.

Come back to these notes after you take that step. What did you learn? What feels clearer? Let your next action follow from that.
